Our story

At the end of the 1980s, one man had a vision to go into secondary schools and talk to the young people about the Bible and the Gospel message.

With a team of people from local churches, Ian Fry began to plan and they put a structure in place.
What began as one man delivering lessons in local secondary schools has evolved over the years and taken on a number of different forms.

There have been times where the secondary work was the focus, times where the primary work was the focus and times where there was an emphasis on the transition between the two. There has also been input in the local universities and work with students.

Today, the team consists of primary and secondary workers with the majority of the schools work involving primary age children. Insight continues to offer lessons, collective worship and weekly clubs to the local primary and secondary schools in the Royal Borough of Kingston and what began as a work with 2 or 3 partnering churches now involves 12 different churches.

16 years ago, Insight and the partnering churches began to run a Christmas event for Year Two children and this event is now hosted in 5 different churches in partnership with 5 more. Similarly, Insight began running The Easter Experience for Year Five children in 2015. This event is now hosted by 4 different churches in partnership with 4 more churches. Over 2,500 children attend these events each academic year.
The work has also grown and spread into the Borough of Richmond and that side of the work has been developing for 8 years.

One man’s vision has now impacted the lives of thousands of children and young people and continues to thrive today.
